I met Jonathan through a free dating app called CDFF. At the time, I really wanted to have a partner, but my activities weren’t within a community that shared the same values, which made it hard for me to find that opportunity. I started to feel tired and decided to send a message—one last attempt to find someone. But if it didn’t work, I was ready to surrender everything to God. I thought, “Whatever kind of partner God gives me, I’ll accept it.”
And then I met Jonathan. He had written a very interesting bio. Among other things, he said he was an Adventist and that he had once walked down a troubled path but decided to return to God. I thought to myself, “Wow, this man is amazing.” He described himself openly and in detail, without shame about where he had been. In that moment, I thought, I have to win his heart.

At that time, I was no longer actively looking for a woman. I had tried using a paid dating app for several months, but I didn’t find what I was hoping for. So I decided to stop using the paid app and switched to a free dating app instead. I only used this app for a day when I received an email notification saying that a woman had sent me a message. The message said, more or less, that she was an Adventist and wanted to give it one last try by reaching out to someone through this app. She told me she is from Indonesia and wanted to get to know me better. At that moment, I wondered—was this God answering my prayers too quickly?
We never officially committed to a relationship, and there were no words like “Will you be my girlfriend?” or anything like that. We simply continued this connection by trying to read the Bible together every day—during my morning and her evening in Indonesia. We shared with each other the lessons and insights we gained from the readings.
August 23, 2023, was the moment I decided to put my faith to the test. We had been on this journey for quite some time, and I needed to know just how deep my love for her truly was. God had already shown me signs, but I didn’t want to remain in my comfort zone without ever meeting her in person. And finally, I realized that my faith had brought me this far—what started as a virtual relationship was now becoming more real than ever.

We’ve made it to this point, and it hasn’t been easy. To all of you who are in love and hoping to bring your relationship into something real—remember, you must fight for it together! The struggle won’t feel as heavy when both of you are willing to accept and face challenges side by side. But even the easiest journey can feel incredibly difficult if you're going through it with the wrong person and without God at the center.
To all the men out there—learn to value the journey. The hardships you've faced to win the heart of the woman you love should become the foundation for loving her even more deeply each day.
